From exploring HMS Alliance and the Explosion Museum, to raising a pint at the Powder Monkey Brewery, our 3-day visit to Portsmouth (26–28 March) was packed with history, laughter, and brilliant company. 20 members came together in true Fleet Air Arm spirit Special visits included HMS Sultan’s Helicopter Museum (thanks Neil & Jim Masson!) Amazing support from the RNA, big thanks to Dave MacAskill & Sarah Bewley (even during CONA week!) Unexpected moment: two members discovered they’d been on HMS Dido together—over 50 years ago! “This trip really brought everyone together.”“The camaraderie, the shared memories, and the banter—this is what keeps us going.” Thanks to everyone who made it happen—and everyone who came along. Next trip? You won't want to miss it. Bravo Zulu to all.
ARMY/NAVY RUGBY 1400 SATURDAY 3rd MAY REPORT
From Jim Uncles - Many thanks to all the members and guests who attended the inaugural big screen Army/Navy Rugby event held at Weymouth Workies, about 75 people attended and enjoyed a great game where the best team obviously won. Apologies for the quality of the sound, but lessons learnt, a better solution will be looked at with the Club for the next event. In addition, the blackout curtains and temporary solution for the big window were just about adequate however it did not detract from the viewing enjoyment but hopefully will be improved for next year. Thanks to Steve Gulliver for his card draws during the afternoon which allowed some members to walk away with cash prizes. The meat/veg & cheese/onion pasties were well received by all those present, next year’s catering may be expanded with more varieties. Once Jim’s expenses were cleared a surplus £35 was raised for Branch funds and an additional £20 was donated by Pete Deans, thank you Pete. Big thanks to Jim for running the event, Steve for assisting and running the card draws and anyone else who helped on the day to set up chairs, tables and clear empty glasses and tidy up afterwards. Thanks to the club for letting us use the room upstairs for the event.
